Embracing Your Identity: You Are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made by God

I used to look in the mirror and see everything I wasn’t. Not good enough. Not strong enough. Not worthy. Trauma will do that to you. It’ll make you question your identity and dim the light God placed inside of you. But the truth? That light never left.

Psalm 139:14 says, “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

That verse isn’t just poetic. It’s personal. It’s a declaration. It’s a reminder that your worth was never tied to your trauma.

Growing up in foster care, I struggled with identity. I didn’t feel chosen. I didn’t feel safe. I sure didn’t feel “wonderfully made.” But God whispered identity over me before I even knew how to claim it.

And maybe that’s where you are right now, trying to figure out who you are outside of what happened to you.

Let me tell you what I had to learn:

  • Your trauma doesn’t define you.

  • Your mistakes don’t disqualify you.

  • You are not broken beyond repair.

You were made in the image of a God who never makes mistakes. You carry His fingerprints, His breath, His purpose.

Healing begins when you agree with what God says about you, not what your past tried to label you as.

Reflection Questions:

  • What labels are you still carrying that God never gave you?

  • Can you begin to declare over yourself that you are wonderfully made, even before you feel like it?

If you’re ready to go deeper in your healing, I want to walk with you. My coaching sessions are rooted in truth, faith, and real-life transformation.
